Unit Name: Introduction to Sexuality, Gender and Human Rights

Description: This course is designed to provide students with basic understanding and knowledge, definitions and concepts for Sexual and Reproductive Health, Gender Equality and Human Rights .The course consists of an introduction to basic concepts and terminology related to Sexuality Changes, Norms, Anatomy and Physiology, Interpersonal Relationship, Communication and Decision Making Skills. The course will also enable students to understands Gender Identity, Gender Norms, Roles, Social Connections with Civic and Political Participation, Forms of Gender Based Violence and their Responses to the Different Forms of Gender Based Violence. The course also aims to equip students with appropriate attitude, knowledge and skills to be able to identify their roles as agent of change in quality management of Sexual and Reproductive Health issues and Understanding Human Rights and its Concepts and explores its links to Sexual Experience and Health.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to : 1. Discuss perceptions about sexuality 2. Identify Sexual changes, Anatomy and Physiology of Reproductive Organ and its Functions with contreceptive methods 3. Discuss Conventional Sexual Rights 4. Discuss Sexuality in relation to Society 5. Discuss Sexuality Transmitted Infections 6. Define Sex and Gender 7. Discuss Gender roles and how female and male Gender Roles are Changing 8. Discuss Gender Equality and Inequality. 9. Discuss Gender Norms and Violence. 10. Define Human Rights and changes in Laws and Policies. 11. Explain challenges on sexual rights, gender , equality and equity.
