Unit Name: Occupational Hygiene

Description: This course offers a variety of assessment criteria which enhance the ability of the individuals to understand Industrial hygiene or occupational hygiene which is science and art devoted to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of those environmental factors or stress arising in or from the workplace may cause sickness, impaired health and wellbeing, or significant discomfort among workers or the citizens of the community.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, you should be able to: 1. Determine the philosophy and principles which underpin occupational hygiene. 2. Evaluate and recognize the types of hazards which may be encountered in the occupational environment. 3. Determine the principles of measurement of common occupational hazards. 4. Examine the criteria for selection and apply the use of personal protective equipment to control hazard exposure. 5. Examine the human body and its functions.
