Unit Name: OHS Injury Statistics & Compensation

Description: This course is designed as an introductory to the areas of Occupational Health and Safety Injury and illness records and data that will provide the basis for injury and illness statistics in organizations. The course gives a broad ? based overview of the legal requirements for accident and illness reporting and recording highlighting of importance of record keeping of workplace situations that may require future awards for compensations. The contents introduce students to basic Legislations related to injury and compensations.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, you should be able to: 1. Examine the introductory requirements of injury statistics and compensation. 2. Interpret statutory data required for injuries and illnesses records. 3. Examine the nature of injury and diseases and determine different categories of data. 4. Examine Workplace Accident and illness records to determine lost workdays. 5. Analyze accident records to calculate injury, severity and fatality rates.
