Unit Name: OHS Introduction & Law

Description: This course is designed as an introductory foundation for Occupational Health and Safety Fundamentals and Law. The course gives a broad-based overview of occupational safety and health fundamentals, highlighting some of the key actors, institutions, and processes. The contents introduce students to basic Legislations related to health and safety and how they apply in practical situations.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, you should be able to: 1. Interpret the Historical Background of OHS in Fiji 2. Apply and explain the Fundamentals of Occupational Health and Safety 3. Apply introductory common Law interpretations and applications in Health and Safety Legislations and Regulations 4. Select and apply the Fundamental Principle of Duty of Care 5. Interpret Introductory Criminal and Civil Law applications in OHS cases 6. Interpret the Letter and Spirit of OHS Law for Fiji Enforcement
