Unit Name: Office Practice and Filing Methods

Description: This unit is designed to provide students with an understanding of the methods, tools and methods practiced by today's office system. It will provide an insight into the roles and functions that exist in an organisation together with the protocol with which internal and external customers should be communicated. This course will basically introduce students to the day-to-day administration of an office. Emphasis will also be placed on the challenges related to ensuring that the office always has the resources needed to remain productive. This involves utilizing proper filing techniques and equipment, coordinating the repairs in any office equipment or prerparation of the necessary documentation for new equipment or supplies. Office system and administration provides guidance for sending and receiving letters and advice on how staff can best communicating through meetings and the logistics involved in arranging travel. Students will also have the opportunity to understand case studies and tutorials relating to each of the topics of this unit.
