Unit Name: Musicianship 1

Description: This course contains 3 components: Fundamentals of Music, Keyboard Skills, and Choir. Fundamentals of Music: Introduces scales, keys, intervals, and time signatures with a focus on basic four-part harmony and melody writing. Keyboard Skills: Introduces basic keyboard skills including posture and hand positions. Choir: Introduces basic Tonic Sol-Fa, warm-ups, and singing technique. Soprano recorders will also be taught during fundamental training in Tonic Sol-Fa.

Prerequisite: N/A

Prerequisite Sentence: The minimum entry requirement for fresh school leavers to Certificate IV is successful completion of studies up to Fiji?s Sixth Form (12 years of continuous progression), with 50% in English or equivalent. Applicants may also be admitted to Certificate IV in programmes who may not meet the 12 years of continuous progression requirement, but who are able to demonstrate their ability to succeed in programmes at these levels on the basis of maturity, work experience, or prior learning.
