Unit Code: MTH409

Unit Name: Foundation Mathematics II

Description: This is the 2nd of two mathematics courses done in the course. The course is a continuation from preliminary mathematics courses where the topics Limits, continuity, Differentiation, Integration, Vectors and Probability are studied in detail. This provides the student with a foundation to pursue any further programmememe he/she requires to do.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Apply different techniques of finding limits and understand their relationship to continuity. 2. Illustrate the different techniques of differentiation and apply differentiation techniques to extremum and rate of change problems. 3. Determine the integral of functions and different techniques of Integration and their uses in application problems. 4. Demonstrate the concept of Vectors, their operations and uses and find the equations of vectors in parametric and symmetric form. 5. Apply elementary knowledge of probability to solve statistical problems and perform hypothesis testing of the mean for one-tail and two-tail tests.
