Unit Name: General and Systemic Pathology

Description: Pathology is the scientific study of the etiology, pathogenesis and consequences of diseases affecting the human body. This course will enable students to apply their pathology knowledge in the later allied health years and then as a qualified health professional.This course provide students with a basic knowledge of various diseses, about their causes, progression , various morphological changes and biochemical alterations leading to various signs and symptoms in human body. Students will be able to corelate between the basic sciences and clinical subjects. The theory, tutorials and demonstrations are designed to enable the students to gain insight on the fundamental mechanisms of how pathological processes occur in the body leading to disease.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Discuss pathology as the core of medical science and practice, encompassing knowledge of cellular adaptations to disease, cell injury, and cell death. 2. Compare different types of neoplasia and their characteristics 3. Explain haemodynamic disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and pulmonary diseases in understanding their interrelated impact on health. 4. Describe pathology of liver diseases and common disorders of the gastrointestinal system. 5. Discuss common diseases affecting the endocrine and nervous systems. 6. Explain common diseases of the genitourinary system. \" 7. Apply pathological knowledge of the skeletal system and skin
