Unit Name: Radiation Biology, Dosimetry and Protection
Description: This course examines the biological effects of radiation, radiation protection standards, and safety practices. Students will analyze the risks and benefits of radiation use, implement quality assurance protocols, and apply ethical principles in radiation protection. Assessments include literature reviews, presentations, and written exams to prepare students for advanced practice in safe imaging environments.
Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: 1. Solve problems in radiation physics and protection using physical laws and variables. 2. Analyse theories of biological effects of radiation on human tissue. 3. Implement radiation protection standards to protect personnel, patients, and the public. 4. Evaluate risks and benefits of radiation use to make objective decisions. 5. Develop communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary setting. 6.
