Unit Name: Computed Tomography Imaging

Description: The course will introduce and familiarize students with the physical, technological, instrumental and clinical basis of Computed Tomography (CT) Imaging. Students will also be introduced to CT scanning techniques and protocols. Theory will be complemented with supervised CT clinical placement at a designated medical imaging facility.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic physics and principles of Computed Tomography Imaging. 2. Assess image quality and implement basic quality control tests and measurements in CT. 3. Explain issues in the use of CT regarding relevant regulations, safety considerations and department planning. 4. Justify imaging protocols and examination techniques in CT imaging. 5. Demonstrate beginner level competence in performing and interpreting CT imaging.
