Unit Name: Imaging Pathology

Description: This course will enable students to gain an insight on the fundamental mechanisms of how pathological processes occurring in the body lead to disease and how specific diseases can be investigated using multiple imaging modalities. Students will learn general pathology including cellular adaptation, injury and death; inflammation, regeneration and repair; immunity; neoplasia and diseases of immune system as well as common pathologies of the major systems of the body.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: 1. Apply pathological terms in correctly describing general and systemic disease processes. 2. Describe the pathogenesis of commonly encountered pathologies. 3. Clinical information to correlate signs and symptoms of diseases with the use of appropriate diagnostic imaging modalities and procedures. 4. Investigate pathological conditions commonly encountered in medical imaging through the use of multiple imaging modalities and critical thinking.
