Unit Name: Professional Practice II

Description: This course is a continuation of clinical medical imaging experience to help students acquire expertise in diagnostic imaging procedures at specified levels of competency. Students will work under supervision to develop technical skills and procedural knowledge in more advanced application and evaluation of medical imaging by integrating anatomy, physiology, patient care and critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: 1. Assess radiological request form for justification and sequence of projections. 2. Modify imaging procedures to suit patients’ conditions and clinical environment. 3. Apply radiation and occupational health and safety principles in the various practical aspects of trauma, advanced imaging, special consideration and contrast studies. 4. Undertake appropriate actions in the event of contrast media hypersensitivity. 5. Apply imaging techniques, procedures and protocols of trauma, advanced imaging, special consideration, contrast and breast imaging. 6. Employ interpersonal and inter-professional communication skills in medical imaging practice. 7. Evaluate images for diagnostic quality in trauma, advanced imaging, special consideration contrast and breast imaging. 8. Apply code of conduct and professional code of practice in the various aspects of the profession
