Unit Code: MIS511
Unit Name: Human Anatomy and Physiology of the Musculoskeletal and Cardiopulmonary Systems
Description: This course provides an introduction to human anatomy and physiology, focusing on the musculoskeletal, circulatory, and respiratory systems. Students will learn essential anatomical and physiological terminology, understand the structure and function of cells and tissues, and explore how these systems interact to maintain body homeostasis. The course also includes identifying anatomical structures on radiographic images. Assessments include written tests, practical exams, and image interpretation tasks, ensuring students build a strong foundation in understanding the human body.
Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Define and apply anatomical and physiological terms. 2. Describe the structure and functions of cells and basic body tissues. 3. Describe the structure, locations, and functions of organs of the musculoskeletal system, circulatory system, and respiratory system. 4. Analyse how the musculoskeletal, circulatory, and respiratory systems interact to maintain homeostasis. 5. Identify anatomical structures related to these systems in planar radiographic images.
