Unit Code: MGT950

Unit Name: DISSERTATION

Description: This course has no formal syllabus. Students are required to undertake an individual piece of work which uses the subject matter and skills developed in the course. As a general rule the dissertation covers an area of applied research, resulting in some form of research artifact (which may be a business plan, software product or a management report embodying the result of research) of use or relevance to the employment of the student or to the consulting or research activities of the academic staff. Students are expected to work independently on their dissertation. While continuous guidance will be given by the supervisor, to help the student focus on the topic and to prepare and develop the dissertation, the individual student will be required to be self-motivated and to set their own goals, and to develop and monitor their own schedules. In addition, students may be allocated a consultant from the academic staff of the Department of Management, who will offer continuous expertise on the development of the dissertation.
