Unit Name: Introduction to Business Management

Description: Managing an organisation in the broader context of increasingly global economy presents many challenges. Thus, rather than viewing these challenges as negatives, this course - MGT501 aims to help students understand important management concepts and theories, covering the basic management functions and other important issues. It provides a comprehensive and integrated introduction to the process of management in both functional and behavioral aspects. Students will be able to learn how companies meet the challenges of today?s dynamic business environment and compete successfully in the global market. Particular emphasis is placed on the management process, its dynamic nature and its key elements of planning, organizing, leading and controlling.
