Unit Name: Investigative Journalism

Description: This course offers the practical skills necessary for mastering journalistic form, drawing on credible sources, reporting facts, and sharpening inquiry and interpretive skills. It also introduces students to the sources for public information including courts, government agencies, and regulatory bodies. The course examines the critical role that investigative reporting plays in in democratic societies. Students read, analyze and critique prize wining investigative journalism stories and develop a repertoire of effective techniques in researching and writing news tories and features that analyse complex social issues in depth.

Prerequisite Sentence: Pass in Fiji Year 13 Examination or Certificate IV in Media and Journalism or equivalent.
