Unit Name: Knowledge Management

Description: The course will provide advance knowledge on various concepts in knowledge management- data, information, knowledge, knowledge bases and knowledge management. The importance of organizing knowledge that is scattered, dispersed and unorganized is covered. It discusses the main two types of knowledge- tacit and explicit, and explains the characteristics of each type

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course students should be able to: • Evaluate concepts of data, information, knowledge and knowledge management; • Interpret the characteristics of knowledge management; • Interpret the differences between tacit and explicit knowledge; • Apply the process, principles and tools of knowledge management; and • Compose the applications of knowledge management in libraries.

Prerequisite: Any Level 6 LIS course or consent from the HOD.
