Unit Name: Managing Library Automation Projects

Description: This course aims to train students for a role as a knowledgeable and effective initiator, planner, general manager of, and participant in, automation projects in libraries/information agencies of all types and sizes.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: • Interpret the basic concepts, terminology, processes, and tools of initiating, planning, and implementing automation projects undertaken by libraries/information agencies of all types and sizes. • Initiate and plan a library automation project. • Judge support and approval of automation projects from the senior management. • Compare and contrast the activities involved in planning, selecting, acquiring, developing, and installing new, replacement, and upgraded computer-based systems in libraries/information agencies.

Prerequisite: Any Level 5 LIS course or consent from the HOD.
