Unit Name: Introduction to Library Science

Description: This course will provide you an introduction to Library and Information Management concepts and Information Literacy competencies. It includes the research process, nature of information, efficient and effective access, evaluation and use of information, ethical/legal issues, and the role of libraries in the society.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: • Recognize and formulate an information need. • Efficiently access and utilize various information resources. • Effectively evaluate gathered information of any type and format. • Use gathered information ethically and legally. • Articulate an understanding of information literacy as a concept and its application to lifelong learning.
