Unit Name: Intensive Care Medicine III
Description: The Master of Intensive Care Medicine initial year ICM910 is designed to build on the existing knowledge and skills gained during MMED (ANA) which included the Basic Sciences, Pharmacology and Practical conduct of Anaesthesia & Intensive care Medicine. The goal of this further specialisation programme is to enable to candidates to practice with in the Pacific managing all levels of critically ill patients both medical and surgical as a Specialist Intensive Care physician as well as continuing practicing Anaesthesia, in other words dual specialisation. MMED (ICM) therefore is a further 2 years of study in Intensive Care Medicine, both years at level 9 and with an exit endpoint examination. The course is based on the problem-based learning (PBL) method of teaching and practical skills attainment and supervision with in the hospital, building on prior learning and skills
