Unit Name: Implementation and Dissemination of Health Systems Research

Description: This course is designed for students to implement their Health Systems research proposal that consists of an original body of work based on individual research, the analysis of an existing database, or a directed and comprehensive analytical review, such as a program evaluation, of an existing body of literature or other sources. This course is a semester with the following course content:1. Data collection. 2. Data entry. 3. Data collation and validation. 4. Data Analysis Plan. 5. Data analysis. 6. Draft data analysis report. 7. Finalized Data Analysis report. 8. Thesis write-up. 9. Final review.10. Submission to external and internal examiners.11. Supervisor and convener mock presentation.12. SPHPC mock presentation.13. Final review and revision.14. Defence of thesis (Oral and Viva) to external and internal examiners at the completion of this course you are required to submit a thesis of no less than 15,000 words and would normally not exceed 25,000 words, excluding tables, reference lists, annexes and other adjunct material.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: 1. Implement the data collection procedures stipulated in the research proposal. 2. Implement data cleaning and management. 3. Apply the appropriate analyzing methods to test the hypothesis and answer the research question(s) in the research proposal. 4. Discuss and share the research findings in a manner which links existing knowledge to the research proposal in a way that expands the current body of knowledge by highlighting and addressing a gap in the current literature. 5. Prepare the thesis write-up findings for presentation and defense to a panel of content area experts from both within and outside Fiji National University. 6. Prepare the thesis write-up in readiness for presentation at any conference/meetings; as well as draft article paper for publication in academic and peer-reviewed journals.
