Unit Name: International Human Resources Management

Description: This course aims to develop the professional and analytical skills of future managers in areas of International Human Resources & Cross-cultural management. It also helps develop the strategic and functional skills mix required to effective Human Resource Management in an international arena

Learning Target Outcomes: 1. Demonstrate how the international context, and culture especially, effect the core functions of Human Resource Management (HRM). 2. Analyse how to effectively analyze International Human Resource Management (IHRM)problem and develop appropriate strategies to solve these problems. 3. Develop competence in the basic cross-cultural skills necessary for effective Internal Human Resource Management. 4. Compose the different stages of HRM in multinationals: getting the HRM basics in place; adjusting to environmental and strategy change; and long-term capability development. 5. Analyse and evaluate the management of diversity from three different perspectives (cultural, institutional, and network). 6. Explore and assess the process of talent management in multinational organizations, and why it is regarded by many as the single most “strategic” area of HRM. 7. Critically analyze a framework of the factors that influence IHRM in a multinational enterprise. 8. Explore the common IHRM practices used in multinational enterprises.
