Unit Name: Human Physiology

Description: Basic understanding of Physiology is an integral part for health sciences. Human Physiology course is designed to present the basics of Physiology for the purpose of providing the student with the background necessary for their future studies. The broad goal of the teaching of undergraduate students in Physiology is to make them understand the scientific basis of the life processes. It also helps them to communicate better with clinical colleagues.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: 1. Describe the contributions of organs and systems to the maintenance of homeostasis using appropriate physiological terms. 2. Discuss integrated functions and processes among the organ systems. 3. Correlate physiologic mechanisms with anatomical structures and biochemical processes in organ systems. 4. Explain the derangements in physiologic functions in case of important diseases.

Prerequisite: Pass in Year 13 examination (or equivalent) and as per Minimum Entry Requirement (MER).
