Unit Name: Communication Strategies and Training Methods in Health Promotion
Description: This course is designed for health promotion professionals to promote their communication skills in community, health care centers, hospitals and other workplaces.The primary focus of this course is to provide related skills, knowledge and understanding in the training of primary health resource personal and community workers. It is a “training of trainers’ course designed to help facilitate the transfer of knowledge and skills in health promotion in any healthy island setting. It provides an overview of the basics of health education services and other outreach work that is designed to help facilitate improving knowledge skills which is an identified action under health promotion. This course also provides you with the knowledge and skills of effectively communicating messages to individuals and families in the community using the basic health education methods. You will be introduced to the basic concepts and practices in health education and also how you can use some of the important tools in disseminating information or health messages to the individuals and the community
Learning Target Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Identify elements of communication and different types of humancommunication. 2. Demonstrate the social and cultural factors affecting humancommunication. 3. Create a health communication campaign through effective healthcommunication. 4. Create an educational material for health promotion and develop acommunication strategy for a selected health issue. 5. Identify advocate\'s roles and responsibilities.
