Unit Name: Globalization: Past and Present

Description: This unit examines histories of globalisation, considering different perspectives and theories on globalisation in its past and present manifestations. The unit covers the multi-faceted ways in which contemporary globalisation is transforming lives and opportunities, both negatively and positively, in different regions of the world. The course ends by examining some of the particular challenges posed to Pacific economies, societies and cultures, both in the past and in the present era, and the transformative impact of globalisation on identities, values, ideologies and systems.
