Unit Name: Nationalism in the Pacific

Description: This unit examines nationalistic struggles in the Pacific in the colonial and post-colonial periods. It begins with a focus on theories of nationalism, looks at the relationship between nationalism and ethnic conflict, considers case studies of early nationalist movements in the Pacific, and ends with an examination of the rise of ethno-nationalism and ethnic conflict in more recent decades.
