Unit Name: Theory and Method of History

Description: This course will help the students to develop the skills in the use of historical research methods. It begins by examining what is history?, epistemology and approaches to write history. It also covers about who writes history, objectivity and bias in historical accounts, sources of historical evidence, oral and scientific traditions, the debate on who should write Pacific histories and other school of thoughts. Students are expected to develop the capacity to critically assess the methods used by historians based on information attained from various sources.
