Unit Name: Global Issues and Third World Geography

Description: This course examines local, regional and global issues in the world. The course particularly focuses on Third World Countries (TWCs) and global issues that affect people in these countries. The course takes a thematic approach and covers development, poverty, migration, population, income and resource distribution, environmental degradation, global warming and climate change, population growth, food security and water problems. It considers some of the theoretical frameworks used by geographers to analyze these issues, and some of the global governance approaches to tackling them. It aims to build understanding of the current state of both the planet and the peoples who inhabit it.
