Unit Name: Wood Processing & Timber Design Technology

Description: The unit covers and emphasizes on wood anatomy; wood, identification; mechanics of wood products; sawmill layout; log yard management (green end); milling site; timber treatment; dry end operation; kiln drying; saw doctor; portable sawmilling operation. Students will learn full timber processing operations. Other part of this unit covers concepts on furniture designing and model making; scaled drawing; drawing types in joinery, furniture and construction industry; conversion techniques and drawing details as used by most commercial furniture making companies.
