Unit Name: FTV Basics of Editing & Sound Design

Description: Creative and aesthetic aspects of editing & Sound Designing. An introduction to editing principles and aesthetics. Learn to identify the elements of a range of editing styles. Begin to develop knowledge and the ability to apply elements of visual language. Organizational and interactive aspects of editing. Begin to develop planning and organizational skills. Basic understanding of the responsibilities, relationships and procedures when interacting with the director, continuity, sound, camera and other members of the crew. The technical and operational knowledge and skills aspects of editing. Introduce basic knowledge, skills and awareness in the use of editing and related equipment. Develop basic operational skills of Final Cut Pro.

Prerequisite: N/A

Prerequisite Sentence: Successful completion of Sixth Form or equivalence (12 years of continuous progression) or equivalent. Applicants may also be admitted to Certificate IV in Film & Television program who may not meet the 12 years of continuous progression requirement, but who are able to demonstrate their ability to succeed in programs at these levels on the basis of maturity, work experience, or prior learning.
