Unit Code: FIN705

Unit Name: Ethics in Financial Services

Description: In this course students develop an understanding of the importance of ethics and good governance in the financial services industry. This involves first of all recognising the principles on which good behaviour at work is based and understanding what is meant by ethical behaviour. Students then need to know when to take action on suspicions or knowledge of unethical behaviour or noncompliance with laws and regulations. In addition, the student must appreciate how to uphold the principles of sustainability in the workplace. This understanding protects the professional reputation and integrity of both the student and their organisation, and enhances the public’s level of confidence in accounting practices and accounting functions.
