Description: The course covers and emphasizes on: introduction to Silvicultural Systems - definition, scope and classification, general structure of classification, of silvicultural system; detailed study of the silvicultural systems - clear felling system; shelterwood system; selection system; accessory system; coppice forest system; conversion and its implications - definition, change in crop composition, change in silvicultural system, techniques of conversion; choice of silvicultural system; tending operations - definition, importance of tending operations, weeding, cleaning, improvement felling, girdling; thinning - concept, objects, kinds of thinning; stand dynamics, stand development phases; site classification, artificial regeneration - kinds of planting stock, classification of nursery stock, planting tools, methods of planting, mixed plantations, enrichment planting and under-planting, direct seeding, seed supply, application of direct seeding. the course covers and emphasizes on: introduction of practices silviculture; the tree and the forest, growth and development of trees; site factors/ factors of locality; classification of climatic factors; bio climate and micro climate effects, physiographic factors; edaphic factors; biotic factors; plant succession; trees and their distinguishing features; artificial regeneration; silvics of Vesi, carribbean pine,Teak, Mahogany, Yasi and Dacua.
