Unit Name: Advanced Food Safety

Description: This course will provide the identification of factors affecting safety of food as the key concerns in the South Pacific region. The course focuses on the application of safety and control measures to minimize hazards and reduce ill effects of food contamination. Students will acquire knowledge on international standards for the interpretation of quality standards. Food handlings practices on various commodities in the local context will also be highlighted. A food safety project will be assessed as part of the course.
