Unit Name: Principles of Food Science and Technology

Description: This course introduces the student to the intellectual and practical skills demanded by independent research and is suitable for students who have an appropriate interest and aptitude. The students will work in groups to formulate and investigate a problem or identify and investigate a topic, as appropriate, in consultation with a staff member who has research experience in the chosen area. The research will use contemporary scientific literature and issues in food science to help students develop skills required to conduct comprehensive literature searches, design sound experimental plans, critically analyze experimental data and present scientific data in oral and written formats.
