Unit Name: Basic Banqueting and Functions

Description: This course offers to provide students with the life skills and knowledge to enable those hands on practice in the banquets and functions department. A function or banquet is an organised event in the broadest sense, at which all guests eat the same meal at the same time. This course will introduce you to the overview of the banqueting business sector of the hospitality industry. Banqueting is a somewhat a term that includes many different kinds of food and beverage service. A banquet is a meal that has a menu preselected by the client for all if the guest attending the event. The spectrum of the event ranges from the joyous to the educational, from baptism to the sales similar, from the very intimate private affair to the very official public ceremony. Service, therefore can compromise anything from cocktails and snacks to the booking of a folk dance group that will entertain guests after a five?course meal.
