Unit Name: Environmental Health in Practice 2: Workplace experience
Description: This course is the finishing course with your last 2.5 semesters of preparing to become an Environmental Health Practitioner. Essentially, this course is offered in the last semester of the Bachelor Program, because you first had to build the knowledge, skill and applications, all that will make you a competent EHP. The course exposes final year Student Environmental Health Practitioners to the workplace where they will encounter ethics, codes of conduct in practice and work practices. Essential tasks and functions related to EH Practice are summarised in this course as well.
Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Discuss application of the core competencies of the Environmental Health Practitioner in the public, services and private sector. 2. Review standard codes of practice and ethics of professional conduct of EHPs. 3. Review and apply administration, management and leadership that govern the work of the EHP. 4. Discuss contemporary local, regional and global EH factors that influence the work of EHPs. 5. Demonstrate professional development in the workplace and over the span of the programme (Placement, Practice Manual, and E-portfolio). 6. Viva - Demonstrate readines for practice.
