Unit Name: Toxicology, Infection and Injury

Description: This course provides an understanding of environmental toxins, how these affect the human body and what the toxicology issues are in the Pacific.

Learning Target Outcomes: After completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Describe historical evolution of toxicology and scope of toxicology. 2. Classify the various toxicants and their effects on the body systems. 3. Discuss the quantitative aspects of toxicology. 4. Analyse the pathways and systems involved in absorption and distribution of toxicants. 5. Analyse the pathways and systems involved in biotransformation and excretion of toxicants. 6. Discuss environmental toxins from natural sources and toxicology issues from Pacific. 7. Analyse Human Chemical Risk Assessment observing ethical principles
