Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: 1. Explain the theory of causation and concept of disease transmission resulting in outbreaks. 2. Evaluate the causes and impact of disease outbreaks and other public health emergencies that affected the Pacific over the last decade. 3. Discuss the steps in the investigation and management of outbreaks, including selection of an appropriate study design, and definitions of cases and risk exposures. 4. Analyse, interpret and communicate field investigation data in a report for stakeholders and implement and evaluate control measures.
