Unit Name: Introduction to Natural Resource Management (Compulsory)

Description: The course aims to introduce to the students the concept and importance of natural resources and their sustainable use: their conservation and management, the sustainable usage of natural resources such as water, fossil fuels, minerals and other resources which are essential for survival and development of mankind. With the increasing human pressure and a growing demand for finite resources, human beings need to learn new and better techniques to use and manage natural resources. Such management requires an interdisciplinary approach encompassing in depth knowledge about specific resources including their ecological, economic and social aspects. This course serves as a prerequisite for most papers required for Environmental Science major.
