Unit Name: Research Project in Emergency Nursing

Description: The masters project is an assessable component of the masters program. It allows the students to explore an area of interest in some depth. This is a supervised project where the students will independently develop a topic in an extended piece of work between 10 000 and 15 000 words. The project may be a clinical audit, a professional development project or a range of alternative projects which can be negotiated. The development of the project aims to build on the students existing abilities to critique professional practice; articulate and analyse the literature; and synthesis and implement a project to contribute to the development of professional practice.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: 1. Implement the project over a given period of time 2. Design a sustained argument based on critically evaluated evidence through a longer piece of writing 3. Evaluate and demonstrate the higher level of discussion of the topic of interest through a longer piece of writing 4. Examine a broader range of literature and if appropriate to explore materials from other disciplines to build up the topic of interest. 5. Demonstrate the capacity to present a sustained piece of work that reflects the thinking and articulation of the Masters programme graduates
