Description: This course helps you develop an understanding of the basic principles of computer architecture and the operation of computer systems, emphasising the role of software. You will learn to differentiate between machine, assembly and a high-level language and develop basic skills in computer programming using a structured high-level language, C++. In the delivery of this unit, emphasis will be placed on integrating the theoretical and practical aspects of computing. In particular, hands-on. Circuit simulation labs will promote the understanding of principles of computer architecture, and programming labs will help you develop skills in programming.
