Unit Name: Electrical Regulation and Standards

Description: This is one of a set of units, the overall purpose of which is to develop the skills which are required by electricians for the installation and design of electrical wiring. The skills would require the understanding of the various regulations of Electricity in Fiji and the Standards required under the Australian and New Zealand standard.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students should be able to: 1. Apply procedures for safety regulations in relation to electrical installation. 2. Explain the importance of Standards, Rules and Regulations in Electrical works. 3. Correctly relate to relevant Fiji Laws under “Electricity Act 2017” and its “Subsidiary Legislation”. 4. Correctly relate to the ASNZS 3000:2018 Electrical Installation Wiring Rules books compositions and chapters. 5. Report and work on installation exercises where the Wiring Rule is used as reference.
