Unit Code: EEC332

Unit Name: Electrical Trade Principles II

Description: This is the second of three units, the overall purpose of which is to provide the foundation in electro-technology required by electrical trade personnel. This unit provides students with an understanding of the performance of basic passive components in ac circuits and develops skills in ac circuit analysis.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students should be able to: 1. Explain phasors to manipulate A.C. quantities and record data to demonstrate the behaviour of R, L & C in A.C. circuits. 2. Compute energy conversions and demonstrate the process of energy conversion involving electrical energy. 3. Correctly relate to illustrations of theories and laws, through calculations and verify in laboratory experiment. 4. Correctly relate to illustration of calculations to determine the effect of temperature on resistance. 5. Solve A.C. series and parallel circuits relevant to electrical power and installation technology using calculation and phasor analysis.
