Unit Name: Satellite Communication

Description: This course will examine satellite telecommunication systems with an emphasis on modern systems and their link budgets. Topics will include a historical perspective, orbital mechanics and constellations, choice of orbital parameters, propagation considerations, link budgets, interference issues and other obstacles, and existing and proposed mobile satellite systems.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students should be able to: 1. Identify and describe the key features of satellite communications systems. (WA1) 2. Formulate and analyze the orbital determination and launching methods. (WA2) 3. Investigate, analyses and develop commands for Satellite systems. (WA4) 4. Analyze FDMA, TDMA, CDMA and OFMA technique for satellites and earth stations applications. (WA3) 5. Apply engineering tools and resources to demonstrate and analyze satellite orbits. (WA5)
