Unit Code: EEB862

Unit Name: Mobile and Personal Communication

Description: The unit is intended for students of telecommunication engineering to extend their theoretical knowledge and understanding into the field of mobile-radio communication design. It prepares students in the theory that supports the practical design and development of mobile-radio transmitters, receivers and antenna systems in the VHF and UHF ranges which are configured for high-capacity mobile telephone communication in the commercial and non-commercial environment.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students should be able to: 1. Analyze components of transmission media and transmission lines. (WA1, WA2) 2. Investigate various digital modulation techniques, line coding techniques and block coding techniques. (WA3, WA4) 3. Demonstrate GSM model and cellular network planning parameters. (WA1, WA3) 4. Analyze link budget and carry out the process of analyzing the strength of received signals. (WA2) 5. Analyze aspects of 4G and 5G. (WA1)
