Unit Name: Advanced Educational Assessment & Evaluation

Description: The course will enable people working for the education sector and teachers with a special interest in assessment, to develop their understanding and skills, and to prepare for new roles as assessment leaders in their schools or assessment related institutions. The course aims to have a significant impact on individual professional learning about and understanding of educational assessment and evaluation. The first part involves understanding the philosophical foundations of assessment, purposes and examining Validity and Reliability of forms of assessment. The second part involves the following: design appropriate assessment tools and develop specifications. examine the three broad categories of assessment and undertake small scale inquiry into local assessment related issues. The course is developed such that all students will apply what they learn to their working contexts
