Unit Name: Practicum 2

Description: This Unit provides the student teachers with the culminating experience of final preparation for the transition to the teaching profession. This Unit provides the student teachers the opportunity to apply the principles of curriculum design, lesson planning, teaching methods, content knowledge and assessment and evaluation techniques into practice in a real-life classroom. This comprehensive experience aims to provide the student teacher an induction to the role of an independent teacher. The first part of this unit will take students through in-depth planning, teaching, class management and student assessment techniques applying key principles of curriculum design to plan, implement and evaluate lessons in the upper primary classes. The second part of the course will provide in-depth experience of teaching in a real classroom situation where the trainee will be expected to assume full class-control.

Prerequisite Sentence: Pass in Practicum 1 and pass in 75% of the courses offered in the programme till Year 3, Semester 1.
