Unit Name: Technology in Education

Description: The purpose of this unit is to provide student teachers in appreciating the strengths, challenges, innovations, and reforms in education at both national and international levels. They will be empowered not only to adopt viable strategies and approaches in their professional practice but also to implement prescribed educational policies and programmes. In addition the unit will encourage a practical approach to exploring the effects of technology,gender issues, and national development. It also aims to enable students to teach the values necessary for peace in a multicultural society, such as tolerance. Student Teachers will identify the challenges of today?s classrooms, learn to devise different strategies, and apply them to classroom practice. Finally, the unit will also assist trainee teachers to consolidate their teaching with social realities. Hence, this will enable trainee teachers to advocate and bring about awareness on issues of national interest, analyse education as a whole and to develop analytical, research, and reflective skills.
