Unit Name: The Science of Play

Description: The purpose of this course is to explore the significance of play in the life of the young child. Students will study the link between play and current neuroscience research on the young child's developing brain. They will explore a variety of perspectives used to examine a young child's play including biological, normative-developmental, sociological, cultural, and methodological perspectives. Students will identify threats to play and learn tools to become advocates for young children's play.
