Unit Name: Art Education

Description: This course is a compulsory course for students in their three years of study in the Bachelor of Education Primary programme. This unit examines the pedagogical principles, theoretical components and practice within Visual Arts and examines methods of design and implementation of Visual Art Education in Primary School settings. This Unit provides fundamental understanding and experiences that will equip pre-service teachers to successfully teach and assess Visual Arts classes. The unit content encourages an understanding and appreciation of Practices and convention of Visual Art Education as applied to the Primary classroom. The unit aims to increase students? knowledge, skills and appreciation of Arts Education through practice and implementation of knowledge in Primary Schools.
